Committed to inclusion

Thanet Pride will, for the first time, be sign interpreted for

those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Taking to the stage at 11.30am is “The Pride Icons & Legends Show”, which breaks at 12noon for the official opening by Thanet District Council Chairman, Cllr. Margaret Sheldrick, and other civic dignitaries.

Introduced by Broadstairs psychic Robert Doyle, the superb programme of live entertainment will continue throughout the day until 7pm, with highlights including first class tributes to those icons of the music scene: Lady Gaga, Freddie Mercury, ABBA, Karen Carpenter and George Michael.

Joining them will be country and western duo The Misfits, recording artist Michael Hinch, 2010 Pink Paper Readers’ Award winner The Drag With No Name, London band Moonshot, top vocalist A Boy Called James, international drag stars Ava La Putain and Kitty Monroe, singing sensation Jamie Watson, regional Pub Stars Competition winner Ben, entertainer Lee Bennett and singer Jaden Cornelius, along with a fashion show by Brief Encounters.

In the evening, the festival continues at Sundowners Bar with a Post-Pride Party from 8pm to late featuring top drag performer Kitty Monroe, with a change of frock from her earlier appearance on stage!
